چکیده

We report the discovery of a Narrow Line QSO located at about 1.3 from the Broad Line Radio Galaxy 3C445. The source, 1WGA J2223.7-0206 , although already revealed by ROSAT, has never been optically identified previously. An XMM-Newton observation of 3C445 has allowed, for the first time, an accurate X-ray spectral study of 1WGA J2223.7-0206 , revealing an ultra-soft spectrum and fast flux variations typical of Narrow Line AGN. The 0.2-10 keV spectrum is well represented by a power law (Γ = 2.5) plus a black body component (kT = 117 eV) absorbed by Galactic NH . About 80% of the X-ray flux (F0.2−10 keV ∼ 3× 10 −13 erg cm s) is emitted below 2 keV. The 0.2− 2 keV flux is observed to decrease by about a factor 1.6 in about 5000 s. The optical observations, triggered by the X-ray study, confirm the Narrow Line AGN nature of this source. The continuum is blue with typical AGN emission lines, pointing to a redshift z = 0.46. The full width half maximum of Hβ is 2000 km s −1 and the flux ratio [O iii]/Hβ = 0.21. The optical luminosity (MR = −23.2) and the point-like appearance in the optical images identify 1WGA J2223.7-0206 as a Narrow Line QSO. From the optical–UV–X–ray Spectral Energy Distribution we obtain a lower limit of the bolometric luminosity of 1WGA J2223.7-0206 (Lbol ≥ 3× 10 45 erg s) implying, for accretion rates close to the Eddington limit, a black hole mass MBH ≥ 2.4× 10 7 M⊙.

Comparison of high- and low-state X-ray spectra in the type 1.5 quasi-stellar object 2MASS 0918+2117

When observed by XMM–Newton in 2003, the type 1.5 quasi-stellar object 2MASS 0918+2117 was found to be in a low state, with an X-ray flux approximately four to five times fainter than during an earlier Chandra observation. The 2–6 keV spectrum was unusually hard (photon index ∼ 1.25), with evidence for a reflection-dominated continuum, while a soft excess visible below ∼1 keV prevented confirma...

Extraordinarily Hot X - Ray Emission from the O 9 Emission Line Star Hd 119682

We present new optical and X-ray observations to show that the X-ray source 1WGA J1346.5−6255 previously associated with the SNR G309.2-0.6 can be unequivocally identified with the emission line star HD 119682 located in the foreground open cluster NGC 5281. Images from Chandra in the X-ray band as well as from Magellan in the narrow optical Hα band show a coincidence of the source positions wi...

XMM-Newton Observations of AGN Iron Line profiles

XMM-Newton observations of type I AGN are presented. The properties of the iron K emission line are reviewed, the majority of AGN observed by XMM-Newton show narrow, unresolved iron lines at 6.4 keV from cold matter that must originate far from the inner accretion disc, perhaps in the putative torus or outer broad line region. The strength of this narrow line appears to decrease with luminosity...

X-ray Observations of the Compact Central Object in Supernova Remnant

We present Chandra, XMM-Newton and RXTE observations of 1WGA J1713.4–3949, a compact source at the center of the galactic supernova remnant (SNR) G347.3–0.5. The X-ray spectrum of the source is well-fitted by the sum of a blackbody component with a temperature of ∼ 0.4 keV plus a power law component with photon index ∼ 4. We found no pulsations down to 4% in the 0.01–0.16 Hz range and down to 2...

A Multi-wavelength Study of 1wga J1346.5−6255: a New Γ Cas Analog Unrelated to the Background Supernova Remnant G309.2−00.6

1WGA J1346.5−6255 is a ROSAT X-ray source found within the radio lobes of the supernova remnant (SNR) G309.2−00.6. This source also appears to coincide with the bright and early-type star HD 119682, which is in the middle of the galactic open cluster NGC 5281. The radio morphology of the remnant, consisting of two brightened and distorted arcs of emission on opposite sides of the 1WGA J1346.5−6...
